Welcome to the Copper Lantern Inn, located in the
heart of the historic district of Abingdon,
Virginia. Sit on the wide front porch and
swing or rock as the horse-drawn carriage
ride passes right in front of the Inn. In
the distance you can hear the train whistle
as it makes its appointed run. You can read
and enjoy a refreshment, or you might be
ready to start
out and explore historic, charming Abingdon,
known for its art and ambience. Walk the
short two or three blocks to town and visit
the numerous antique shops, the Art Depot
and several fine restaurants. The
centerpiece of Abingdon is the world famous
Barter Theatre, a treat for all theater
buffs and only steps away from the Inn. With
advance notice, your hosts will be happy to
offer a package deal which includes the
room, two tickets and breakfast.
If you have the time and the inclination,
hike or bike the beautiful Virginia Creeper
Trail. Bike rentals and the start of the
trail are only two blocks away- you can even
be driven to the summit, and coast back to
town! Close by, there is fishing, horseback
riding and Holston Lake for boating. We
